Welcome to Running to Mental Health. The title says it all. This is a site devoted to a discussion of the effect of running on all mental health issues. I am a counselor in private practice and a long time runner. The positive effects of running on my mood and my outlook on the day have been obvious to me, as with most runners, for many years. Over the past several years, I’ve been paying attention to the growing research that backs up these personal observations.
I hope to present the research and stories of personal triumph so a more general discussion can begin to happen both in the therapy and running community. At this time, even though it is changing, both don’t pay much attention to the other.
Let’s open a dialogue. Send me ideas and stories so we can broaden the interest and further the study.
